Who’s in Charge? Program

The ‘Who’s in Charge?’ program offers support to parents and carers who need assistance to navigate those teenage years.

 

The program is specifically designed for parents & care givers who experience verbal, physical or emotional abuse from their teenager.

 

Over the course of the program parents become more confident and report positive outcomes for their families.

 

Are you experiencing

Verbal abuse:

 

  • yelling
  • swearing
  • screaming at you
  • acting in an intimidating way towards you

 

Physical abuse:

 

  • hitting
  • kicking
  • pushing you
  • hurting siblings or family pets
  • destroying property
  • throwing objects

 

Emotional abuse:

 

  • manipulating and controlling behaviour
  • making threats to hurt you or themselves
  • running away
  • lying

 

What we cover in the group

Parenting standards, influences on children today, abuse & effects of domestic violence on parenting, setting limits, effective consequences, anger, becoming more assertive, the teenage brain.

The groups are run in a supportive and confidential environment and follow up support is always available.

 

Groups are held each term and run for 8 weeks on Tuesdays 9.30am – 11.30am and Thursdays 10.30am - 12.30pm.
