About Mackay Youth Support Services Inc.
Our Mission Statement
We will work collaboratively and holistically with families to improve participation and engagement within their communities and support them in achieving their potential.
Overview
Mackay Youth Support Services Inc. has been operating for over 25 years and currently provides services under the Family Support Service (or U-Nite Program). The program delivers counselling, mediation and support services to young people and their families.
The service aims to empower families to prevent family breakdown, and to enhance relationships and communication.
MYSS Inc. is funded by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors & Disability Services to implement the U-Nite program. This program is intended to provide an early intervention response to issues faced by young people and their families. This is a flexible, client driven service that deals especially with issues that lead young people to be in conflict with their families. The flexibility of the service enables it to adapt to the particular needs and circumstances of both young people and their carers and provides practical support, a range of intervention approaches and links to other services and supports. The service operates within the Mackay region, using a range of intervention
modalities, and provides support to young people up to 18 years of age, and their families.
The service aims to empower families, prevent family breakdown, enhance relationships, and improve intra-familial communication.
Mackay Youth Support Services Inc is co-located with Act for Kids who is an Australian for-purpose organisation that delivers evidence-based support services to children and families who have experienced or are at risk of harm in Mackay.
Referrals to Mackay Youth Support Services can be made by other agencies, non-government or government or by self-referral.
