Hey peeps! I joined the brillint team at MYSS in February 2009 and LOVE IT !!! I spent a year at Kalyan Youth Services and completed my Certificate III in Youth Work at TAFE. I decided that i wanted to study more and RPL my Diploma in Youth Work. My passion for youth work developed when I became a mum and had many younger cousins at my house with issues and concerns steming from family break downs and conflict and I wanted them to empower themselves and challenge their actions and to make informed choices to change their current situations. I wanted them to be aware that education is a must to be able to make a brighter future because everyone is deadly!!! I am hoping my experiences and qualifications in my personal and work life will help MYSS address issues with Indigenous young people in High School and to help connect and build networks with the Indigenous Community in Mackay. I work closely with the CEC's on ideas for appropriate Programs that are beneficial to Indigenous students and try and connect to build networks with other Indigenous Organisations and Services that are able to link in with Mackay Youth Support Services to offer help and guidance to Indigenous students.

Welcome to MYSS internet site where the world is at the touch of your fingertips. I am a born and bred
Darwin-ite from the Top End of Australia, the Northern Territory. I have been in Mackay since 2007 and believe this
place has so much to offer, with it's gorgeous beaches, friendly people, laid back atmosphere, and DEADLY fishing.
I love working with Indigenous young people as they are our Future DEADLY leaders!! I enjoy having a yarn and joking
around in a good way with them, while throwing in some friendly information and experiences that can help them on their
personal journey through life.
I love living life to it's fullest!!! I believe making mistakes is a great learning tool to reach our full potential. It's a tool
you can definatley learn from and sure it takes time to overcome some mistakes, BUT in the end you are the only person
that can turn those mistakes around to your advantage and in a positive direction. With the ability within, the right
supports and positive influences we are able to pick ourselves up and move on to achieve the goals we set.
I believe Indigenous people are unique with a rich and exciting culture that dates back many moons. A culture that can be shared to create understanding to non Indigenous people so they can have a better understanding. A culture passed down through generations and is told through arts and crafts, cultural dancing, cultural stories. A culture that has a unique
connectedness to the land, the seas and the night skies.
